Course Description
Upon completion of this course, you will have fulfilled the necessary requirements for operating a crane mounted to a vehicle, specifically for loading and unloading purposes. This accreditation enables you to operate any vehicle loading crane, including those from Hiab and Palfinger, with a lifting capacity of 10 metric tonn es or more.
NOTE: Course price is based on Crane Truck provided for course. Further fees will be applied if FHV need to provide a crane.
Course Outcomes
Enrolling in this course will empower participants with the skills and knowledge needed to attain a National Statement of Attainment and ID card.
Participants will undergo training in the following key areas of skills and knowledge:
1. Planning work
2. Calculations
3. Whistles and hand signals
4. Hazard identification
5. Crane setup and transferring loads
6. Reading load charts
7. Shutting down and securing the crane
Frequently Asked Question
The metre tonnage of a vehicle loading crane is a number which is worked out by multiplying the lifting capacity by the working radius of the boom for that lifting capacity. To calculate 10 metre tonnes. MULTIPLY THE SWL × THE WORKING RADIUS FOR THAT SWL = METRE TONNES.
Crane operators play a crucial role in construction, handling the safe and efficient lifting and movement of materials on site. As a crane driver, you need to be practical and skilled in both operating and maintaining heavy machinery
Forklifts are primarily used for transporting goods, often utilizing pallets or other platforms for easier handling. However, cranes are more efficient than forklifts in certain situations due to their higher load capacity, allowing them to move large, heavy materials more quickly. Cranes are generally capable of lifting much heavier loads compared to forklifts.
